Looking for a yummy breakfast or mid morning snack to help give you lots of energy for the day ahead? I know I need a good kick start in the morning especially if I have done a long AM training session, or a quick and easy breakfast for when you are on the run. I recently tried this smoothie and loved it; I loved it so much I just had to share it with you all.
Handful of fresh or frozen blueberries or strawberries
1 tablespoon of oats
2 tablespoons of low fat greek yogurt
1 cup of Almond milk or your chosen milk
40g (2 heaped tablespoons) of good quality Whey Protein powder – this is optional, but is a good addition if you are consuming the smoothie post workout or as breakfast in general, as the protein will help keep cravings in control.
Blend together, serve and enjoy
This smoothie will give you a slow energy release throughout the morning with complex carbs to help keep you focused.
Don’t be put off by the fruit it this smoothie; a lot of people think by consuming fruit they are consuming extra sugar and/or calories. We need to remember that the sugar in fruit is a natural sugar and is good for a healthy diet, as always we need to consume everything in moderation.
