12 Healthy Snacks for Fat Loss

There is 100% no reason why everyone can’t be snacking correctly, if you are prepared there is no reason why you should be reaching for those nasty sugary treats.  They might taste really good (believe me I know they do, my weakness is Skittles), but all they are going to do is give you a sugar rush of energy then a big crash.  After the crash you will be looking around for something else to eat as the sugary treat in no way has satisfied you or given you any nutritional benefit.

Next time when the 3pm slump comes around, look for nutritious and clean foods to eat, you are only going to feel better within yourself from doing this and in turn you will be aiding in your fat loss goals.

Here is a list of easy snacks which are suitable for the whole family (even the kids!)

  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Homemade trail mix (nuts, seeds, dried cranberries raisins)
  • Half an avocado and 3 turkey slices (Free range turkey, don’t buy the pre packaged turkey as it is full of preservatives and sugar)  -Raw mixed nuts or almonds (no added salt)
  • Raw vegetables (i.e. carrot, cucumber, celery, broccoli)
  • Small apple with a teaspoon of 100% peanut butter or almond butter
  • Non fat Greek yoghurt (look for greek yogurt with no added sugar) add mixed berries for extra flavour
  • Popcorn (no added salt)
  • Edamame
  • Chickpeas
  • Whey protein smoothie (take on the run in a shaker or have as a pre or post workout snack)
  • Banana (perfect pre workout)
  • Ryvita crisp bread with 100% natural peanut butter or almond butter (one of my favourites)
  • Avocado on Ryvita or 100% Rye bread
  • Canned tuna or salmon (go for spring water options only, not flavoured and drain the water before eating)

The following snacks are perfect to add into the kids lunch box.

  • Raw veggies with some hummus
  • Raw mixed nuts (no added salt)
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Cheese sticks
  • Raisins
  • Cucumber slices
  • Homemade fruit salad
  • Banana
  • Small apple
  • Popcorn (no added salt)
  • Dried fruit
  • Banana chips
  • Yogurt (no added sugar)

Nearly all of these snacks can be taken on the run with you, or can be ready for you at home or in the office, so there really is no excuse not the be eating a nutritious morning and afternoon snack.
